The number of Halton dimensions this implementation covers directly — one prime base per dimension, the first 256 primes (2 ..= 1619).

The cap bounds the per-trial cost of a scrambled draw (one digit permutation of length base per digit position per dimension) and sits far beyond the dimension at which Halton’s high-base correlations make it a poor design anyway. Beyond it, parameters fall back to the uniform draw, exactly as past SOBOL_DIMENSIONS for Sobol.
