The best objective value seen up to and including each trial.

A best-so-far curve is monotonically non-increasing (the problems minimize), and it is the thing a benchmark actually compares: not the value of trial n, but the best of trials 0..=n. Two samplers are ranked by how fast this curve descends at a matched budget.
