WilcoxonReport

Struct WilcoxonReport

pub struct WilcoxonReport {
    pub w_plus: f64,
    pub w_minus: f64,
    pub pairs: usize,
    /* private fields */
}
Expand description

The result of a paired Wilcoxon signed-rank test over a set of differences.

w_plus + w_minus is the total rank sum n(n+1)/2 over the pairs non-zero differences; the smaller of the two is the classical statistic statistic. One-sided significance for “candidate systematically worse” is one_sided_p, via the tie-corrected, continuity-corrected normal approximation.

Fields§

§w_plus: f64

The sum of ranks of the positive differences.

§w_minus: f64

The sum of ranks of the negative differences.

§pairs: usize

The number of non-zero, finite differences that were ranked.

Implementations§

§

impl WilcoxonReport

pub fn statistic(&self) -> f64

The classical statistic W = min(W⁺, W⁻).

pub fn one_sided_p(&self, positive_is_worse: bool) -> f64

The one-sided p-value that the candidate is worse than the baseline.

positive_is_worse says which sign of difference counts as “worse”: for a minimizing study a positive candidate − incumbent (candidate larger) is worse, so pass true; for a maximizing study, false. The test is the upper tail of the corresponding rank sum with a continuity correction; a degenerate sample (no variance) returns 1.0 (no evidence).
