Which independent stream of randomness a seed is derived for.

Streams keep concurrent consumers from drawing correlated numbers: a sampler and an objective in the same trial must not share an RNG, or adding one sampler draw would silently change the environment’s random seed.

Each variant maps to a stable u64 tag that feeds the mixing function. Tags are part of the stability commitment described in the module documentation.

Variants

Sampler

Parameter sampling for the trial.

Objective

The objective function’s own randomness (environment seeds, network initialization, …).

Scheduler

Scheduler decisions that need randomness (bracket assignment, tie-breaking, PBT exploration).

Replicate(u32)

One repetition of a trial evaluated under several seeds — the RL multi-seed protocol. The payload is the replicate index.

Custom(u32)

A caller-defined stream. The payload namespaces it; atune never derives from Custom itself.
