Variants

Crowding

A bound moved outward: the top set was crowding it.

VetoRolledBack

A bound moved back to its previous position and its side froze: every terminal trial in the added band failed.

VetoFrozen

A side froze without rolling back: a majority, but not all, of the added band’s terminal trials failed.

LimitReached

The next span would cross the declared limit.

CapReached

The side has already used its max_expansions.

SignBarrier

A linear side reached zero without crossing it (§8.9).

NotRepresentable

The proposed span or bound left its own type (§8.10).
